PARUPPARISI SADHAM
Parupparisi sadham is one of the famous dish in Coimbatore. Though there are many variation in preparing it this is my simple style of preparing it. This is a one pot meal.

Preparation : 5 minutes.
Cooking : 25-30 minutes.
Soaking : 1 hr.
Ingredients:
Cooking oil- 2 tbsp.
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Bengal gram - 1/2 tsp.
Urad Dhal - 1/2 tsp.
Small onion - 6-7 nos.
Garlic- 6-7 nos.
Curry leaves- few nos.
Coriander leaves - few chopped.
Green chilly - 3-4 nos.
Tomato- 1 no.
Hing/Asafetida - 1/2 tsp.
Turmeric powder- 1 tsp.
Water - 3 cups
Salt as required
Rice - 1 cup
Thoor dhal - 1/4 cup.
Note: Soak rice and dhal together for minimum 1hr.
Steps:
1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker splutter mustard seeds and add Bengal gram and Urad dhal and fry well do not burn.
2.Add sliced onion, garlic, curry leaves, coriander leaves, green chilly and sauté.
3. Had Hing/asafetida.
4. Add tomatoes and turmeric powder.
5. Sauté well. Add water and salt.
6.Let the water boil.
7.Add the soaked rice and dhal. Pressure cook the rice as per your cooker.
9. Now the rice is ready to be served.
